You've finished truck driving school, decided what endorsements you are applying and testing for, and you've even gone to the DMV and taken and passed all required exams, so now what?



As I stated earlier, in 1992 I became an over-the-road truck driver. In the fall of that year, my father passed away. As you continue to get time behind the wheel, knowing where and when to shift, slow down, and speed up will become automatic. You will learn traffic patterns and weather patterns. You will learn how long it takes to get from city to city and from town to town throughout the state of Utah. This will help make you an asset to your company.

Truck driving school was a challenge but I did it. I have to tell you that when I got out there in the real world to start making money there was a lot of stuff that they didn't teach me. I went right through the school of hard knocks.

Yes, the banks seem to always be touting the fact that they have money and want to fund small businesses. But besides taking collateral on your Lr licence house, they will also want to collateralize your favorite dog and youngest child. Of course I'm joking - but have you tried to get traditional bank financing? Especially if you have not had a long time relationship with the bank?

Out of all the endorsements, you must be fingerprinted and pass a background check for only one: the HazMat endorsement. If you have been convicted of arson robbery smuggling HR Truck Licence bribery or other serious crimes you cannot obtain a HazMat endorsement. Your HazMat endorsement must be renewed at least every 5 years.

Instructors will wander over now and then to see how things are going and offer advice. But for the most part it will be students helping out students. This was a popular way of doing things because there wasn't as much stress when instructor weren't constantly watching our every move.
